The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

A highschool loner finds friends.

More info @ IMDB
  • The movie is like a chick flick but doesn't suck and therefore guys can watch it too

  • this movie differs from other of it's type by being unique in the sense that the protagonist wants to make friends with others who can't wait to get out of high school

  • contrast that with other movies where the main character wants to save the day, get laid, get popular or get revenge on someone else etc.

  • this movie gets an extra half star for realistically protraying how friends/bully/social pressure dynamics work.

  • part of the reason the dynamics are more realistic is because everyone sticks to their own group of friends. You only get bullied if your an asshole, moron, a far out weirdo or any combination of those. Everyone just orbits their own core group of friends.

  • When I was in High School, there was very little "classic schoolyard fights" and "bullying" the way pop culture portrays it. An example in pop culture is when an obvious jock or some other popular kid picks on some kid while everyone else does nothing and the victim is blameless. Nine times out of ten, this is not so in reality. The victim usually did or said something that pisses everyone else off.

  • So yeah, this movie is much better compared to other movies when it come to how people actually behave IRL.

  • There were a few scenes where I was like WTF? what does have to do with anything in the plot. I think you will notice this too if you watch(ed) it

    *coughdragdancingcough

  • Emma Watson is hot

  • I think this movie would be movie would rank higher if you can relate to it, but since I did not, it doesn't

in a nutshell

quite good
