the movie has this old authentic feel to it, i'm not sure how to describe it. It lacks the "unrealism" of most Hollywood movies.
I think Gosling found his groove in these types of "artistic" movies. (I don't know how else to describe it.)
Excellent story. It starts off a bit slow but if you keep watching, it gets way better and you see how one thing leads to another. This is one of the reasons I like this movie.
Eva Mendes is not that attractive IMO
