I found the characters to be uninteresting, but the acting was good, I guess.

I'm not sure who got the idea to make this movie, but my guess is that some Hollywood hotshot (who has access to tons of money) saw that transformers was raking in the Benjamins and wanted to cash in on America's fascination of cinematic destruction
